Write a complaint letter with AI

Annoyed about a faulty product, a bill or poor service? These steps could help you turn your notes into a clear, polite complaint that asks for a specific fix, using a free AI app on your phone.

Four steps, about ten minutes

  1. Jot down the facts: what happened, dates, order or account numbers, and who you spoke to.
  2. Decide what you want: a refund, repair, replacement, apology or an explanation.
  3. Paste your notes (remove passwords, card numbers and anything private you don’t need) into the prompt below.
  4. Read the draft, fix anything wrong, then send it yourself.

A prompt you could copy

You are helping me write a calm, polite complaint letter.
Here are my notes: [paste notes]
What I want: [refund / repair / replacement / explanation]
Write a short letter (under 250 words) with: what happened with dates, why it is a problem, exactly what I am asking for, and a reasonable deadline to reply. Do not invent facts. List anything you are unsure about at the end.

Check before you send. Check every date, amount and reference number against your receipts. AI can get facts, dates and names wrong. You decide what goes out.

Questions

Is it safe to paste my details into AI?

Leave out passwords, full card numbers and anything you would not want shared. Names and order numbers are usually enough for a draft.

Can AI tell me my legal rights?

It could give general pointers, but it can be wrong. In Australia, your state fair trading office or the ACCC has reliable consumer rights information.
